Toyota is preparing to unveil the updated Toyota Fortuner globally on December 1, 2026. The popular premium SUV is expected to arrive in India in 2027, with refreshed exterior styling, a redesigned cabin, and added technology. While Toyota has not announced the India launch date, the update is likely to matter to buyers waiting for a newer version of the rugged SUV.
Toyota Fortuner Facelift: Expected Design Changes
The upcoming Toyota Fortuner is expected to retain its signature muscular stance while adopting styling elements inspired by the latest Toyota Hilux. Recent spy shots suggest that the SUV could feature a redesigned front fascia, a more prominent grille, slimmer lighting units and a taller bonnet.
The side profile is expected to maintain its upright proportions, pronounced wheel arches and practical side steps. At the rear, the updated Fortuner could receive a redesigned tailgate, revised tail lamps and a connected LED light bar, giving it a more contemporary appearance.
However, the final exterior design and lighting specifications are yet to be officially revealed by Toyota.
Interior and Features
The cabin is expected to receive substantial upgrades, addressing the growing demand for modern technology in the premium SUV segment. The new Fortuner could borrow several design elements from the latest Hilux, including a larger touchscreen infotainment system, wireless connectivity and a fully digital instrument cluster.
Toyota could also improve dashboard materials and cabin ergonomics to enhance the overall driving experience. An expanded Toyota Safety Sense package is anticipated on select variants, potentially introducing advanced driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and lane-keeping assistance.
The final equipment list will be confirmed closer to the global debut.
Engine and India Launch Timeline
The updated Toyota Fortuner is expected to continue with the familiar 2.8 litre diesel engine, paired with manual and automatic transmission options. Four Wheel Drive is also likely to remain available, preserving the SUV’s off-road capabilities. These specifications are yet to be officially confirmed for the upcoming model.
According to current reports, the SUV will retain its IMV ladder frame platform while receiving extensive styling and cabin changes.
The India launch is expected in 2027, although Toyota has not confirmed the exact date or pricing. With its refreshed design, upgraded technology and established rugged appeal, the new Toyota Fortuner will aim to maintain its position in India’s premium SUV market.
