Samsung has expanded its foldable smartphone lineup with the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Flip 8 at its Galaxy Unpacked event in London. The new devices bring in slimmer designs, upgraded hardware, enhanced Galaxy AI features, and Android 17-based One UI 9, as Samsung continues to strengthen its position in the premium foldable market.
Leading the lineup is the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, the most premium Samsung foldable phone yet. The device features an 8-inch foldable display, a 200MP primary camera, up to 16GB RAM, a 5,000mAh battery, and the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. Samsung says the phone is built for multitasking, productivity, and AI-powered workflows, providing improved split-screen capabilities and new on-device intelligence features.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 introduces a new “passport-style” design which makes it easier to hold and operate with one hand. Despite its more compact footprint, it retains a large inner display for media consumption and multitasking while weighing just over 200 grams. Samsung has also improved durability with a redesigned hinge and a reduced display crease.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 continues the clamshell strategy of Samsung with a thinner profile, enhanced Flex Window functionality, and upgraded AI-powered camera features. The outer display now supports more apps and widgets, which allows users to access the key functions without unfolding the device.
All three smartphones run Android 17 with One UI 9, introducing new Galaxy AI experiences such as smarter Gemini-powered assistance, improved multitasking tools, and contextual recommendations. Samsung has also opened pre-orders globally, with sales beginning in early August across several markets. Pricing starts at around $1,199 for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, $1,899 for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, and $2,099 for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
