Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has landed in the middle of a major controversy after the Federation of Western Indie Cine Employees [FWICE] issued a non-cooperation directive against him following his reported exit from Don 3. The development has sparked up a widespread discussion across the whole Hindi film industry, especially because the film was one of the most anticipated franchise projects in recent years.
According to the reports, filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and Excel Entertainment approached FWICE after Ranveer allegedly walked out of the film just weeks before the shooting schedule was set to begin. FWICE chief advisor Ashoke Pandit claimed the sudden withdrawal caused major disruptions to production plans and resulted in major financial losses. Reports have suggested the producers are seeking nearly Rs 45 crore in damages linked to the pre-production expenses and delays.
The issue reportedly began earlier this year when complaints were formally submitted to the federation . Industry insiders have linked the fallout to creative disagreements, script concerns and delays surrounding the project . However, no official detailed reason was given for Ranveer’s exit from the film.
Amid the escalating row, Ranveer Singh has finally responded through an official statement issued by his spokesperson . The actor said he holds the highest regard for the film fraternity,” and chose to remain silent because professional matters should be handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect.” He also wished the Don franchise continued success while avoiding direct comments on any of the allegations.
Meanwhile, Ranveer made his first public appearance after the FWICE action when he was spotted at the Mumbai airport surrounded by security personnel. Videos of the appearance quickly went viral online, adding more attention to the controversy. Despite the boycott call, discussion between the actor’s team and the industry bodies may still take place in an effort to resolve the matter.
