Nissan has officially launched the all-new Tekton SUV in India, marking its return to the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment. Priced from ₹10.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the Tekton is available in six variants, with prices going up to ₹18.59 lakh, taking on rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and the upcoming Tata Sierra.
Inspired by the iconic Nissan Patrol, the Tekton features a rugged and muscular design with C-shaped LED headlamps, a large front grille, connected LED tail lamps, chunky wheel arches and dual-tone exterior colour options. The SUV is based on the CMF-B platform shared with the latest Renault Duster, but receives a special styling which gives it a unique identity
Inside, the Tekton comes with a premium feature list which includes a large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a fully digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting and connected car technology. Safety is another major highlight for this car with multiple airbags, electronic stability control, Level 2 ADAS features and a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, which makes it one of the safest SUVs in the segment.
Powering the Tekton are the two turbo petrol engine options. The entry-level model gets a 1.0-litre T160 turbo-petrol engine combined with a six-speed manual gearbox, while the higher variants are powered by a 1.3-litre T280 turbo-petrol engine available with either a six-speed manual or a dual-clutch automatic transmission. Nissan has confirmed that the SUV will not be offered with a hybrid powertrain at launch.
