Kareena Kapoor Khan has once again proved that timeless fashion never really goes out of style. The actor recently stepped out in a dreamy pastel leheriya saree for the music launch of her upcoming film Daayra in Mumbai, instantly bringing back memories of classic Bollywood fashion. What made the look even more special was its striking resemblance to a saree worn by her sister Karisma Kapoor in the 2001 film Zubeidaa.
Kareena Kapoor’s Pastel Leheriya Saree

For the event, Kareena opt out for a lightweight chiffon saree featuring a beautiful rainbow inspired palette of pastel yellow, turquoise, seafoam green and soft pink. The flowing leheriya pattern gave the traditional six yard silhouette a fresh and modern feel, while the delicate fabric added an effortless sense of movement.
The actor kept the styling elegant and understated. She paired the colourful saree with a delicate double layered diamond choker and matching earrings. Her beauty look was equally polished, with soft waves, glowing skin, subtle smoky eyes and a nude pink lip. The minimal approach which allowed the lively saree to remain the centre of attention.
A Sweet Nod to Karisma Kapoor’s Zubeidaa Look
The real highlight came when Kareena shared a collage on Instagram featuring her recent saree look alongside Karisma Kapoor’s memorable appearance from Zubeidaa. Karisma had worn a similar multicoloured leheriya saree in the film, creating an unexpected fashion connection between the sisters more than two decades apart.
Kareena captioned the post, “Well I always knew we had good taste… Sisters forever,” making the nostalgic moment even more charming.
The fashion moment also showcases how Bollywood’s iconic styles continue to inspire new generations. By bringing back in the colourful leheriya saree with a modern styling approach, Kareena has made a strong case for the classic drape as a festive wardrobe favourite once again.
