India Couture Week 2026 Wrap-Up: Seven Days of Heritage, Glamour and Modern Couture Come to a Grand Finale

The 19th edition of Hyundai India Couture Week 2026, held from July 23 to July 29, concluded on Wednesday after a week which celebrated India’s finest craftsmanship, bridal fashion and contemporary luxury. Organised by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), this year’s event stood out for expanding beyond Delhi for the first time, opening with a spectacular showcase at the iconic Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad before shifting to New Delhi. The moves marked a major milestone for the premier couture platform.

Designer Anamika Khanna opened the week with her dreamy “Moonlit Palace” collection, combining her heritage-inspired embroidery with modern silhouettes and setting the tone for the event. Throughout the week, celebrated couturiers including Falguni Shane Peacock, Rahul Mishra, Tarun Tahiliani, JJ Valaya, Aisha Rao, Arpita Mehta and ROSEROOM by Isha Jajodia presented collections that showcase complex embroidery, luxurious fabrics and innovative craftsmanship.

Among the standout presentations, JJ Valaya’s “SIDDI” paid tribute to India’s rich cultural heritage through regal aesthetics, while ROSEROOM’s “Softly, Strong” explored modern femininity with delicate lacework and structured couture. Bridal lehengas, embellished gowns, modern sherwanis and experimental silhouettes dominated the runway, showcasing the evolving tastes of luxury fashion consumers.

The week also generated conversations beyond fashion. Ahead of the opening, India Couture Week faced online criticism from some social media users over its timing amid ongoing student protests. However, participating designers and organisers defended the event, focusing on the livelihoods, artisanship and months of planning that support the couture industry of India

As India Couture Week 2026 comes to an end, it leaves behind a strong message that Indian couture continues to evolve while remaining deeply rooted in traditional craftsmanship. From royal inspirations and handcrafted textiles to bold modern designs, the seven-day showcase reaffirmed India’s position as a global destination for luxury fashion and artisanal excellence.
