Google’s Screenless Fitbit Air Fitness Tracker Set for India Launch After BIS Certification

Google’s latest wearable, the Fitbit Air, appears to be heading to India soon after the device was spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification database. While the company has not officially announced an India launch date, the certification is widely seen as an important step before the product reaches the Indian market.

Launched globally in May 2026, the Fitbit Ait marks a major shift from traditional fitness brands and smartwatches. Unlike most wearables, it features a completely screenless design, focusing merely on health and fitness tracking without any notifications or distractions. Google has described it as its smallest and lightest Fitbit device, which is designed for continuous wear throughout the day and night.

The trackers connect to the Google Health app, where users can access detailed health insights, sleep analysis, activity tracking, and personalised wellness recommendations. Despite its minimalist design, the Fitbit Air includes advanced sensors for heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen (SpO2) tracking, heart rate variability (HRV), sleep tracking, and automatic workout detection.

Google has claimed that the device can deliver up to seven days of battery life on a single charge, which makes it suitable for uninterrupted health monitoring. The wearable also supports stress management tools and readiness scores, which can help users better understand their recovery and overall wellness. By eliminating the screen, Google aims to encourage healthier digital habits while still providing the extensive fitness data through the companion app.

Industry reports suggest that the Fitbit Air could be priced between 12,000 and ₹14,000 in India, although the company has yet to confirm official pricing. If launched at this price point, the device would compete with premium fitness trackers and wellness-focused wearables in the growing Indian health-tech market.

With the increasing consumer interest in fitness tracking and preventive health care, the arrival of Fitbit Air can strengthen Google’s presence in the wearable segment of India.
