Bengaluru Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Launch on November 1: Route, Timings and Features

ndian Railways is preparing to introduce the Bengaluru Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper train, with the service expected to launch on November 1, 2026. The new train will connect two of India’s major economic centres, Bengaluru and Mumbai, providing passengers with a modern overnight travel option with improved comfort and reduced journey time.

Union Minister of State for Railways V Somanna announced the proposed launch, which coincides with Karnataka Rajyotsava. The service is expected to cut travel time between the two cities from about 24 hours to around 16 hours. However, the final operational timetable and other details are yet to be officially confirmed.

Bengaluru Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Route

The upcoming Vande Bharat Sleeper Express is expected to operate between Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVB) in Bengaluru and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai. The proposed route covers approximately 1,118 km, improving rail connectivity between Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Potential stops include Anantapur, Guntakal, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Solapur, Pune and Kalyan. The final list of stoppages will depend on the official railway notification.

Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Timings

According to the proposed schedule, the train is expected to depart Bengaluru at 7:50 pm and arrive in Mumbai at 11:55 am the following day. On the return journey, it may leave Mumbai at 8:10 pm and reach Bengaluru at 11:55 am the next day.

The service is proposed to operate six days a week. These timings remain provisional until Indian Railways releases the confirmed schedule.

Coaches, Berths and Passenger Capacity

The Bengaluru Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper train is expected to feature 16 fully air-conditioned coaches with a total capacity of 823 berths. The configuration will reportedly include 11 AC three-tier coaches, four AC two-tier coaches and one AC first-class coach.

The train is designed for overnight journeys, with modern sleeping arrangements and upgraded passenger amenities intended to improve comfort on long-distance routes.

Expected Ticket Prices and Booking Details

Indicative fares reported for the service range from approximately ₹2,684 for AC three-tier to ₹3,466 for AC two-tier and ₹4,250 for first class. These prices are estimates and have not been officially confirmed by Indian Railways.

Passengers should wait for the official announcement regarding ticket bookings, confirmed fares, stoppages and the regular service schedule before planning their journeys.

A Major Upgrade for Bengaluru Mumbai Rail Travel

The new Vande Bharat Sleeper train is expected to make overnight travel between Bengaluru and Mumbai faster and more comfortable. By potentially saving six to eight hours compared with existing direct train services, it could benefit business travellers, professionals and families travelling between the two cities.

Its launch would also expand India’s growing Vande Bharat Sleeper network, bringing modern rail travel to another important intercity corridor.
