OnePlus to Exit US and Europe as Oppo Revamps Global Business; India Future Under Spotlight

OnePlus is reportedly preparing to withdraw from the United States and Europe as parent company Oppo undertakes a major global restructuring, which marks one of the biggest changes in the smartphone brand’s history. The move comes after years of slowing growth and increasing competition in key international markets.

According to reports, Oppo is restructuring its global operations to improve profitability after facing weak demand in overseas markets. As part of the restructuring, OnePlus will stop launching new products in the US and Europe, while Oppo is expected to take over customer support and after-sales services in those regions. Existing users are expected to continue receiving warranty support and software updates.

The decision marks a major shift for OnePlus, a brand which built its reputation by providing flagship-level smartphones at competitive prices. Over the years, however, the company has struggled to maintain its “flagship killer” identity as smartphone prices increased and competition from brands such as Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, and other Chinese manufacturers intensified.

The biggest question now is whether India, OnePlus’ largest and most successful international market, could face a similar fate. Reports suggest that India may eventually be included in the long-term restructuring plans of Oppo, although no official timeline has been confirmed yet.

Following the speculation, OnePlus India has reassured customers that its local operations remain unchanged. The company stated that it remains committed to the Indian market and that ongoing sales, customer service, and future product plans continue as scheduled. Recent reports also indicate that while OnePlus may transition more closely to Oppo’s ColorOS software strategy globally, the overall user experience in India is expected to remain familiar.

While the reported exit from the US and Europe signals the end of an era for OnePlus in Western markets, the future of the brand in India remains quite uncertain. For now, Indian consumers can expect business to continue as usual, even as Oppo reshapes its global smartphone strategy.
