Hardik Pandya Shifts Training Base to Bengaluru: Why the India All-Rounder Left Mumbai

In a major career move, indian cricket star Hardik Pandya has reportedly shifted his training base from Mumbai to Bengaluru, choosing to make the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s Centre of Excellence (COE) his permanent training hub. The decision is aimed at extending his playing career by giving him year-round access to world-class fitness, rehabilitation and performance facilities.

According to reports, the 32-year-old all-rounder has rented a residence on the outskirts of Bengaluru close to the COE. He is expected to become the first active Indian cricketer to use the Centre of Excellence as his primary training base whenever he is not on national duty, representing his domestic team, or playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The decision of Pandya comes as he continues his recovery from a quadriceps injury, which ruled him out of the ongoing India white-ball tour of England. Over the past six months, he has spent the majority of his time at the Bengaluru facility, where he has undergone rehabilitation and worked on improving his overall fitness. The move is expected to provide him with full access to sports science experts, physiotherapists, strength and conditioning coaches, and advanced recovery infrastructure.

Reports suggest that daily commuting from his Mumbai residence had become quite difficult, forcing the Mumbai Indians captain to relocate. By living close to the COE, Pandya can dedicate more time to training and recovery instead of travelling for long hours. In addition to the facilities of BCCI, he is also expected to continue working with his personal support staff, including a physiotherapist and strength coach, to manage his workload effectively.

The strategic move showcases the determination of Pandya to maintain peak fitness after facing multiple injuries in recent years. With India set for a packed international calendar and another IPL season ahead, the all-rounder is hoping that a world-class level structure and a science-backed training environment will help him remain one of the most valuable white-ball cricketers for years to come
