Apple Goes All-In on AI at WWDC 2026: Siri Reimagined, iOS 27 Unveiled

Apple used its Worldwide Developers Conference [WWDC] 2026 keynote to showcase its biggest artificial intelligence push yet, unveiling a completely rebuilt Siri, major updates in Apple Intelligence and the next generations of its operating systems, including iOS 27, macOS Golden Gate and visionOS27.The event also carried added significance as it marked the final WWDC keynote led by the CEO Tim Cook before his leadership transition later this year. 

The headline announcement was Siri Ai, a new version of Apple’s voice assistant, which is powered by advanced AI technology and integrated with Google’s Gemini models. Apple said that the revamped assistant is more conversational, context-aware and capable of understanding on-screen content, previous conversations, messages, and web-based information. Siri AI can perform complex actions across apps, retrieve information from personal data, and even analyse images through Visual Intelligence. A dedicated Siri app will also allow users to continue conversations across devices. 

Apple also introduced iOS 27, featuring refinements to the Liquid Glass design language of the company, faster system performance, smarter search capabilities adn deeper Apple Intelligence integration. According to Apple, app launches will be faster, photo processing improved, and AI-powered tools will help organise notifications, Safari tabs, and other content more efficiently. The update will support devices as old as the iPhone 11. 

Beyond smartphones, Apple announced updates across its ecosystem. visionOS 27 brings Siri AI to the Vision Pro headset, along with immersive panorama support, redesigned controls, and enhanced customisation options. New child-safety features, privacy protections, and AI-powered enhancements for Messages, Photos, Home, and Safari were also highlighted during the keynote. 

Closing the event, Cook reflected on his Apple journey through these years and expressed confidence in the future of the company, telling the developers that the best is still ahead. With AI now at the centre of its software strategy, WWDC 2026 signalled a major shift as Apple is looking to strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
