End-to-End Encrypted RCS Messaging Comes to iPhone
One of the standout additions in iOS 26.5 is support for encrypted RCS messaging. The feature improves communication between iPhone and Android users by bringing stronger privacy protections to cross-platform chats. Apple says end-to-end encryption makes sure that only the sender and recipient can access messages, photos and videos shared through the RCS conversations.

Another key feature in the iOS 26.5 update is an upgraded Apple Maps experience. Apple has introduced AI-powered “Suggested Places,” which will recommend nearby restaurants, cafes, and attractions based on the user’s activity and search habits.
The company is also reportedly testing localised recommendations and business promotions within the Maps in selected regions. Apple maintains that these suggestions are designed with privacy protections and on-device intelligence.

Apart from these headline features, iOS 26.5 includes several bug fixes, security patches and system performance enhancements. Apple has improved the overall stability across apps such as Messages, Reminders and Safari while also optimising battery efficiency for supported devices.
