Indian-Origin ‘Ketamine Queen’ Jasveen Sangha Jailed for Role in Matthew Perry’s Death

A US court has sentenced Indian-origin drug supplier Jasveen Sangha to 15 years in prison for her role in the overdose death of Matthew Perry. The 42-year-old, also known as the Ketamine Queen, confessed to selling the drug that led to the death of the actor in October 2023.

Prosecutors claimed that Sangha operated a vast drug trafficking operation out of her North Hollywood apartment, distributing ketamine to a well-to-do customer base. The investigators discovered that several vials were transferred through intermediaries to Perry including through his personal assistant. The court records indicated Sangha sold dozens of ketamine vials in the weeks prior to the incident. Although she knew the risks associated with the substance, she still kept on supplying it. The authorities also mentioned previous instances of overdoses related to her network, questioning the size of her enterprise.

Perry, who is well known due to his role in friends, had been receiving a medically supervised ketamine treatment as part of his addiction and mental health treatment Investigators said he later sought additional doses outside medical channels when prescriptions were restricted, which ultimately proved fatal.

Sangha pleaded guilty to several charges, including distribution of drugs resulting in death. In court, she acknowledged responsibility and expressed regret.Prosecutors, however, suggested that her actions were indicative of a careless pattern, as she still provided drugs despite knowing about severe effects related to her products. She was among five individuals who were accused to have been involved in the case including two doctors and the assistant of Perry. Her term is the longest given to date. The case has drawn attention to the risks surrounding unregulated drug supply, particularly in high-profile circles, and has renewed scrutiny on how such networks operate behind closed doors.
